Blind Man

Here was a blind man in a household to whom the others gave the best of all things: food,  clothing,  bed,  covers,  and all,  yet he was filled with discontent and wailed all day and all night because of his ill-treatment.  The family drank water and gave the blind man milk,  they had one cup of rice and gave him three,  they had half a loaf of bread and gave him three loaves,  but still he complained. In fury and despair the family killed a lamb,  roasted it,  placed it on a plat-  ter,  and put it before the blind man.  He smelled it,  began touching it to find out how large it was,  and then began to eat,  but before he had swallowed the first bite he said,  If this much comes to me,  how much goes to you?

Տանը մի կույր մարդ էր ապրում, ում մյուսները միշտ ամենալավն էին տալիս՝ լիներ ուտելիք, հագուստ, անկողին, թե այլ բան: Սակայն նա միշտ դժգոհում էր և օր ու գիշեր նվնվում էր, թե իրեն վատ են վերաբերվում:

Ընտանիքը ջուր էր խմում, իսկ կույրին կաթ էր տալիս, իրենք մեկ բաժակ բրինձ էին ուտում, նրան տալիս երեքը, բավարարվում էին կես բոքոնով, իսկ կույրին տալիս երեքը: Բայց նա շարունակ գանգատվում էր: Զայրացած և հուսահատված տնեցիները մի մեծ գառ մորթեցին, խորովեցին, դրեցին մի մեծ սկուտեղի վրա և մատուցեցին կույրին: Նա հոտոտեց միսը, փորձեց շոշափելով պարզել դրա չափը և սկսեց ուտել: Բայց առաջին կտորը կուլ տալուց առաջ ասաց.
